A geographic information systems (GIS) analyst’s green card was approved in the category of national interest waiver (NIW). The NIW category requires a petitioner to first demonstrate qualifications for the underlying EB2 visa classification as either an advance degree professional or an individual of exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business. In addition, a separate showing is required to establish that a waiver of the job offer requirement is in the national interest. We worked with the client to establish his documented stature as an analyst and researcher that possesses an advance degree. We obtained records of the client’s publications, conference presentations, and reference letters substantiating his original and beneficial findings. In addition, we also provided evidence that the client is in a position to drastically improve the ability to plan and prepare for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural disasters, which is in the interest of the U.S. government. Thanks to the combined efforts of the client and our expertise in this area, the client’s I-140 petition was approved. Congratulations!
