The First 72 Hours After an Accident

Get Medical Attention
Go to an ER or urgent care, even if you feel fine. Pain often appears 24–72 hours later. Without medical records, insurers will argue your injuries are unrelated.
Preserve Evidence
File a police report. Photograph vehicles, license plates, road conditions, injuries. Get witness names and phone numbers. Capture everything you can with your phone.
Don’t Talk to Their Insurer
The opposing insurance company will call and request a “recorded statement.” That call alone can cut your settlement in half. Say “my attorney will be in touch” and end the call.
