IMMIGRATION

[Others] A Divorced Conditional Resident Obtained Her Permanent Residence 07/08/2019

This client retained Song Law Firm to apply for her permanent green card before the expiration of her conditional resident status that had been obtained based on marriage to a U.S. citizen. At the same time, she was about to file a divorce complaint against her citizen spouse. We assured our client that she was eligible for permanent residence even after filing a divorce as long as we can establish her good faith marital relationship during her marriage. After gathering sufficient evidence of bona fide marriage that would demonstrate that she had entered into marriage not for immigration benefit, we submitted her self-petition. While the petition is pending, her divorce case has been finalized and we submitted a copy of her divorce decree. This case was approved without an interview or request for additional evidence. Congratulations.
