On January 27 , the USCIS issued guidance on H-1B pre-registration for the fiscal year 2024 (FY). According to this announcement, H-1B pre-registration will be available from noon on March 1st to noon on March 17th.
This pre-registration requires that you open an online account with USCIS and submit your registration online through this account . A USCIS online account can be created on the USCIS website and must be opened by an employer . Employers who already have an account on the Immigration Service website can pre-register using their existing ID and password .
The H-1B ‘ pre-registration system ‘ targets employers in the United States who wish to petition for an H-1B visa corresponding to the fiscal year 2024 quota of 65,000 bachelor ‘s degrees and 20,000 master’s degrees or higher , and this pre-registration H-1B petitions and applications can only be accepted after completing the registration . The pre-registration filing fee is $10 per registration .
It added that H-1B petitions that have completed pre-registration during the period will be notified of winning on March 31st as a random draw lottery. Only applicants who have won this lottery can submit an H-1B petition to the USCIS within 90 days from April 1st to June 30th.
After submitting and filing the H-1B petition package, you will receive a notice that it has been received, and once reviewed and approved by the USCIS, you will receive an approval notice. If you receive a final approval notice like this , you can work through H-1B. However , since this H-1B visa is for the fiscal year 2024, you can start working from October 1, 2013 , the fiscal year of the federal government.
