We provided an opportunity for underage clients who were in illegal residency in the United States to obtain green cards through the Special Immigrant Juveniles Status (SIJS) program

SIJSSeveral years ago, two brothers who had crossed into the United States with their mother came to the Song Law Firm for assistance. Both brothers were under the age of 18, and they, along with their mother, had entered the United States on visitor visas but failed to renew their status, leaving them without legal status in the United States. The brothers were concerned about whether they could obtain legal status and live in the United States in the future. Recognizing their dilemma, a family law specialist attorney at Song Law Firm determined that the Special Immigrant Juveniles Status (SIJS) could potentially apply to the brothers.

SIJS is a special program that grants green cards to minors who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment by one or both parents in their home country and have entered the United States as a result. Despite being a highly beneficial immigration program, it is relatively unknown, and many people do not take advantage of its benefits. In the case of these brothers, they had never received any contact from their father since arriving in the United States, and they had never received any financial assistance from him.

The attorney at Song Law Firm argued in court that this situation constituted neglect/abandonment by one of the parents, and they prepared as many necessary documents as possible to submit to the court. The court agreed with this argument, and ultimately, the brothers obtained the opportunity to receive green cards in the United States. The brothers, who had always worried about their future while living in illegal residency, were overjoyed to receive the opportunity for U.S. green cards.”
